I was at the Biltmore House in Asheville at my niece's wedding. The reception began and three of the bridesmaids sat down to dinner. I loved the soft light touching their backs and the way the chiavari chairs created a pattern and added vertical interest. I sketched them as they sat (unaware of me!) and finished the painting in my studio. I wanted to convey not only the elegance of the figures but to suggest a conversation.
